2008 Curran Tempranillo "Gran Riserva", Santa Barbara County
Santa Barbara County
Aged for 124 months in new French Oak.
Deep, rich, and brooding, this “Gran Riserva” Tempranillo has amazing complexity due to its extended aging in oak barrels. Dried cherries and black plums are married with notes of Mediterranean spices and dried rose petals, which round out the nose. Broad in the mouth with silky tannins, this wine ends with a beautiful floral-plum finish.
Hand-sorted fruit was 100% de-stemmed, then cold soaked in open-top fermenters for 4 days prior to yeast inoculation. Time on skins totaled 32 days prior to barreling. This Tempranillo completed Malolactic fermentation while aging in barrel.
